Leterrier back for Now You See Me 2

Louis Leterrier said he'd like to direct the Now You See Me sequel

Louis Leterrier has revealed he would return to the director's chair for the Now You See Me sequel.

The French filmmaker, who directed the first film this year, said he had always seen the magician heist thriller, which starred Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher and Morgan Freeman, as one half of a larger story.

"I'm currently, not writing, but we're coming up with the story, the plot, the everything, the twist and the new characters," he told Comingsoon.net.

"It was always at least two movies, to tell one long story, so yeah, I'm very much involved in it.

"I don't know if it's going to be my next movie. I know we want to do it pretty fast but I might be able to do another movie in between," he said.

It is not known if any of the stars of the first film will reprise their roles in the follow-up.

Jesse, Isla, Morgan, Woody Harrelson, Sir Michael Caine and Mark Ruffalo star in the film about gifted magicians lured into a bank robbery.

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer announced the plans to make a sequel earlier this month, following the news that the film had become a surprise box office hit around the world.

Filming is set to get under way in 2014.
