Ballymena man Liam Neeson has always been considered one of Hollywood’s hardest working actors. But since the tragic death of his wife in a skiing accident in March 2009, he has stepped up his workrate a gear or two.
So it will come as no surprise that the Ballymena man has been unveiled as the most prolific actor in 2010 with an impressive seven roles to his credit.
According to MovieInsider, Neeson topped the list of most starring roles in feature films last year, beating the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Angelina Jolie, Jeff Bridges and Brad Pitt.
His releases in 2010 include Clash Of The Titans, co-starring Sam Worthington and Ralph Fiennes; the big screen remake of 1980s television series The A Team, which also starred Bradley Cooper and Jessica Biel; The Next Three Days with Russell Crowe and Elizabeth Banks; the Golden Globe-nominated TV series The Big C; The Wildest Dreams; The Unknown, co-starring January Jones and Diane Kruger, and The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader, for which he provided the voice of Aslan.
The Oscar-nominated actor is currently filming The Hangover Part 2 and Battleship, and is signed up to star in two further films this year, The Grey and The Last Stand.
And the 58-year-old, who was back in Belfast last month to attend a special screening of The Chronicles Of Narnia for Cinemagic, also confirmed that he is to appear in a much-anticipated sequel to the box office hit Taken. Production is due to begin this spring.
Neeson has always been a busy actor but he has thrown himself into work since his actress wife Natasha Richardson died in a skiing accident in Canada.
Also making the list of Hollywood’s hardest working actors in 2010 is Kristen Wiig, who starred in MacGurger, How To Train Your Dragon, Date Night, Despicable Me and All Good Things; Geoffrey Rush in The King’s Speech, The Warrior’s Way, Eye Of The Storm, Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Legends Of The Guardians: The Owls Of Ga’Hoole; Pierce Brosnan for his roles in The Ghost Writer, Remember Me, Salvation Boulevard, Percy Jackson And The Olympians and The Lightning Thief, and Ralph Fiennes, who starred in The Wildest Dream, Nanny McPhee Returns, Clash Of The Titans, Cemetery Junction and Harry Potter And The Deathy Hallows.
Unfortunately, Neeson’s hard- working schedule also resulted in him winning a New York Post 2010 Turkey Movie Award as ‘Oscar-Nominated Actor With Three Bad Movies’ for Chloe (filmed in 2009), The A-Team remake and Clash Of The Titans.
