Liam Neeson joins A Monster Calls

Liam Neeson has joined A Monster Calls.

The actor will star as a monster in the flick, Screen Daily reported, about a bond that develops between a young boy and a beast which visits him in nightmares.

Felicity Jones, who played Felicia in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, is also set to star in the movie, based on the Patrick Ness novel of the same name.

Ness also adapted the screenplay.

The fantasy drama, directed by J A Bayona, who is known for The Impossible and The Orphanage, will hit the big-screen in October 2016.

Set in present day England, the film features a 13-year-old who is troubled by his mother's terminal illness and is visited in the night by a monster who tells stories.
