Lin for crime drama Times Square

Justin Lin has been lined up to direct crime drama Times Square after Focus Features acquired the rights to the script.

The film has been written by Jacob Rubin and former Fast And Furious director Justin is also set to produce it, according to Deadline.

It will be a period film set in Times Square in the days when the busy area of New York was transitioning from a seedy, lawless Manhattan dump to a family-friendly, corporate advertising square.

The main character is a young man who finds his loyalties divided between the neighbourhood boss who raised him, and the ex-cop who has sworn to protect him.

Justin's other directing projects at the moment include CBS drama pilot Scorpion, the next instalment of the Bourne film franchise, and LA Riots, which was scripted by Oscar-winning 12 Years A Slave writer John Ridley.
