Lohan's Machete performance praised
Lindsay Lohan was nowhere to be seen at the screening of her new movie despite being fresh out of rehab - but the film's director was quick to praise the star.
Robert Rodriguez said he instinctively knew Li-Lo would be great in Machete.
"She was awesome - you go by your instinct for somebody that might be right for a part, and she's so great in the movie," the director said at the screening in Downtown, Los Angeles.
The film is based on a fake trailer Rodriguez directed for his 2007 movie Grindhouse. At one stage, the movie sees the young actress don a nun outfit while toting a machine gun.
"She has a great character, a great twist and a great arc and it'll really surprise people," Robert teased.
The film's leading man, tough guy character actor Danny Trejo, insisted Li-Lo was great to work with.
"On the set she was a pro," he revealed. "She's got a personal life, we all have one, the only problem is with her personal life there's a camera on her all the time."
He added: "We've talked and she's going to be alright. She's got out of rehab, she's going to be fine."
