Macdonald takes a Queer turn

Kelly Macdonald has been linked to Queer

Kelly Macdonald is rumoured to be in talks to appear in Steve Buscemi's Queer.

The Scottish star is thought to be joining Guy Pearce and Ben Foster in the big-screen adaptation of William S Burroughs' novel.

Rampart director Oren Moverman, who wrote the script, told Vulture: "Steve is one of the first people I worked with in the film business, and he's a great director. I love him as a director."

Oren originally wrote the script 10 years ago, and is hesitant over the screenplay finally becoming a reality as he reveals the film is still in development.

"It's still in the early stages of the actual making because Steve, as you know, is a little busy with his show he's doing on HBO. But once he has his hiatus next time around, after the next season, we're going to go shoot this movie. God willing," he added.

Queer, written with Burroughs' first book Junkie, wasn't published until decades later in 1984. It follows the story of the American author who befriends an American Navy serviceman, who was only 21 years old.
