Macy joins Gibson in Blood Father

William H Macy has revealed he is starring opposite Mel Gibson in thriller Blood Father.

The Fargo star announced the news on Twitter, where he posted a photo of himself with his co-star.

"Here's me and Mel. The film is called BLOOD FATHER. He'a great in our scenes," wrote the 64-year-old alongside the image.

Blood Father, directed by Jean-Francois Richet, is described as a Taken-style action thriller about an ex-convict who reunites with his estranged 16-year-old daughter, who has been targeted by drug dealers.

It is not known which roles the actors are playing.

William, who stars as Frank Gallagher in the US version of Shameless, has made his directorial debut with Rudderless, which had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.

The film, which stars Billy Crudup, William's wife Felicity Huffman, Anton Yelchin, Selena Gomez and Laurence Fishburne, follows a man who decides to form a band after experiencing the death of his son.
