Madagascar 3 to premiere at Cannes
Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted is to have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett Smith and David Schwimmer are to reprise their voice roles as a group of zoo animals who dream of escape, and rising star Jessica Chastain is among those joining the cast of the sequel as the voice of tiger Gia.
The Paramount and DreamWorks animated film - due for release on June 8, is the first major studio title to surface in connection with Cannes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
So far, only Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom has been officially confirmed, as the opening night film.
Madagascar 3 will see the animals trying to get to New York from Africa, via Monte Carlo, London, Rome and the Swiss Alps.
A clip released from the 3D film shows the animals causing havoc in Monte Carlo's famous casino.
Frances McDormand is also joining the cast as the voice of the new villain, the ruthless police captain Dubois.
