Madden to be James' Prince Charming

Richard Madden will play a prince in the latest big-screen adaptation of Cinderella

Game Of Thrones actor Richard Madden has been cast as the Prince in the new Cinderella film.

The Scottish star, who is best known for his role as Robb Stark in the medieval fantasy show, is set to sweep English actress Lily James off her dainty feet in Kenneth Branagh's remake of the classic fairytale, reported Collider.

Downton Abbey actress Lily is already on board as Cinderella, with Cate Blanchett playing her wicked stepmother in the new live-action Disney movie.

Richard - who is dating Doctor Who actress Jenna-Louise Coleman - has appeared on the big-screen before in Chatroom and has roles in upcoming romantic dramas Long Nights, Short Mornings and A Promise, but he is most recognised for his TV roles in Game Of Thrones, Sirens and Birdsong.

Cinderella is the latest in a string of fairytales being remade for the big screen, including Mirror, Mirror, Maleficent and a version of Beauty And The Beast.

Filming is due to start in the autumn with a release date set for 2014.
