Madonna cut daughter from her film
Friday, 3 February 2012
The Queen of Pop cast the 15-year-old as the younger version of Abbie Cornish's character Wally Winthrop, but Lourdes' scenes in the romantic drama later hit the cutting room floor.
Madonna, 53, told MTV News she "dragged" Lourdes into the film at the last minute.
She continued: "But she was really great and then I ended up cutting her out of the film. Ruthless, I know. I said, 'Sorry babe, you're on the cutting room floor'."
However, the singer, who is set to perform during the Super Bowl's half-time show this weekend, said her daughter took the news "like a champ".
The film, directed and co-written by Madonna, focuses on the affair between King Edward VIII (James D'Arcy) and American divorcee Wallis Simpson (Andrea Riseborough), plus a contemporary romance between Abbie's character Wally and a Russian security guard (Oscar Isaac).
