Malin: Blondie's Debbie is amazing

Malin Akerman would like to sing Blondie songs in CBGB

Malin Akerman has revealed she can't wait to get stuck into her next role - as rocker Debbie Harry.

The Rock Of Ages actress confirmed rumours that she is portraying the Blondie frontwoman in Randall Miller's musical biopic CBGB.

"I love Blondie, I think she's amazing. She's the coolest chick ever, which I'd hoped for. I'm really excited because CBGB is such a landmark. It's huge and amazing artists went through there, so it's sort of the story of how CBGB was born and all the amazing artists that rocked it," she said.

Malin - who will appear alongside Harry Potter co-stars Rupert Grint and Alan Rickman in CBGB - said she has met Blondie drummer Clem Burke.

"I haven't really started doing anything about it, because I only found out before the press tour for Rock Of Ages started, so I haven't been able to focus. But I did meet her drummer, Clem, and ask 'What is she like' and 'What kind of person is she?', which were all the answers I wanted to get," she continued.

The Swedish star, who sings with Tom Cruise in Rock Of Ages, hopes she will be allowed to belt out Blondie's hits.

"I don't know yet if I'll actually be singing and recording the songs, or if I'll just be lip-synching," she explained.

"I would rather record it. Not that I think I can do an amazing job but I'd like to try."
