Zack Snyder has revealed that the Man Of Steel sequel will be filmed in Detroit.
The Michigan Film Office announced that the upcoming DC Entertainment Super Hero film from Warner Bros Pictures has been approved for a film incentive from the state, reported Superherohype.com.
Zack, who is back in the director's chair for the next instalment, said in a statement: "Detroit is a great example of a quintessential American city, and I know it will make the perfect backdrop for our movie.
"Detroit and the entire state of Michigan have been fantastic collaborators, and we are looking forward to working together on this film."
Margaret O'Riley, director of the Michigan Film Office, revealed the film would give the city a welcome financial boost.
"This project will further strengthen the reputation of Michigan state and Detroit as a premier film destination," she said.
"We look forward to the spotlight shining on our incredibly talented workforce and the businesses that support our film industry here in Michigan."
Henry Cavill is expected to reprise his role as Superman, while Ben Affleck is set to play Batman in the sequel, which will bring the two superheroes together for the first time on the big screen.
Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane are also reported to return for the film, which has been written by Zack and David S Goyer.
Production on Man Of Steel 2 is expected to begin in January 2014, in time for a release in 2015.
