Manganiello: Arnie's my action hero

Joe Manganiello has revealed that working with Arnold Schwarzenegger is a dream come true.

The True Blood actor gets to share screen time with the Terminator star in David Ayer's action thriller Ten.

"Arnie was a hero to me. He's the reason why every guy of our generation started going to the gym," he told Men's Health.

"To film with him for four months was awesome. And he still trains every morning."

The 36-year-old even picked up some tips from Arnie about how to make his muscles pop on camera.

"We had a photo shoot for the movie poster. I was wearing a sleeveless top, crossing my arms and flexing. Arnold came in and said, 'I see you're flexing your biceps. Don't do that. Keep it loose and [with crossed arms] put the other hand back to push [the muscle forward] - you'll get an extra three inches," he recalled.

Joe, who plays werewolf Alcide Herveaux in the fantasy TV series, admitted he would be a sportsman if he wasn't acting.

"If I hadn't have been an actor I would have gone on to play college sports. I went for classical theatre so I missed out on all that training," he said.

"But I think those four years away from acting, working on that construction site, made me realise that the athlete is a big part of me. Also, to be honest, my dad wanted me to be an athlete. And I think all sons want to prove something to their dad."
