Mark Wahlberg King of Corruption?

Mark Wahlberg has joined Paramount's new crime drama When Corruption Was King as a producer.

The film is based on Robert Cooley's memoir about how, working as a lawyer in Chicago, he became the mob's most trusted attorney, only to bring down the whole organisation as a state witness during Operation Gambit.

Mark, who is producing with his Entourage co-producer Stephen Levinson, may also star in the film, Variety reports, but is currently just on board as a producer and the film is yet to find a director.

Meanwhile movie blog Tracking Board.com reports that Mark is also set to produce and possibly star in a remake of action film Billy Jack.

The original 1971 film starred Tom Laughlin, as Billy Jack, a gunslinger who defends a liberal school from the local people who take a disliking to its 'hippy' culture.

Mark, who produced and co-starred in Oscar-wining film The Fighter, is currently attached to produce several other films at Universal including The Raven, Contraband and Bait & Switch.
