Matt Smith to help Catch A Monster

Matt Smith could be starring in Ryan Gosling's directorial debut

Matt Smith is reportedly set to make his Hollywood acting debut in a film directed by Ryan Gosling - How To Catch A Monster.

The Doctor Who actor is set to star in the "modern day fairytale" alongside Christina Hendricks and Eva Mendes, reported Variety.

Mad Men actress Christina, who starred with Ryan in Drive, is already on board to play a single mother-of-two who gets swept up into a dark fantasy underworld when her 18-year-old son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town.

Eva, who is dating Ryan, is tipped to play a mysterious figure called Cat in the movie.

Rob Zabrecky portrays a cab driver in the film, which will by Ryan's directorial debut and begin shooting in Detroit in May.

Ryan has said that having a strong cast will help to improve his confidence as a first-time director.

"I feel that as the cast grows, the more confident I am because I know how much you can depend on your actors if you have great ones," he said.

Matt is best known for being the eleventh incarnation of the Time Lord on the BBC series, although he has had roles in films such as Bert And Dickie, Clone and the upcoming Horrid Henry 2: The Movie.

It's difficult to deal with a highly competitive colleague. Every time you submit work, they try to find ways to outperform you. Although you have no interest in pitting your talent against theirs, this other person thinks very differently. Ignoring them won't be possible. A good way to disarm this pest is to invite them out for coffee. Describe what you've observed and ask for a truce. Irrational people are often thrown off balance when their behaviour is addressed in a direct manner.More
