Melissa McCarthy is in line to star in a raunchy comedy called Tammy, which she has co-written.
The Bridesmaids star will also be an executive producer on the film, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
New Line has acquired the script, which is about an overweight woman who decides to go on a road trip with her alcoholic grandmother after being made redundant and discovering her husband is having an affair.
"It's about these two women who are not where they thought they would be, and then they kind of band together," Melissa said.
"It's just my perfect tone. It's so funny, and it also kind of breaks my heart."
Melissa is also co-writing a film with Bridesmaids writer Annie Mumolo, is in talks to star opposite Jason Bateman in Identity Thief and is also set to appear in Bridesmaids producer Judd Apatow's still-untitled Knocked Up spin-off.
