Michelle Williams is reported to be in talks to star in wartime drama Suite Francaise.
The My Week With Marilyn star may take the lead role of Lucille Angellier, a vivacious young woman who is trapped in a loveless marriage, reported Variety.
When Lucille's husband is called off to war, she finds solace in playing the piano, and is "instantly attracted" to the German officer and former composer assigned to stay at their home.
Saul Dibb has written the screenplay and is expected to direct too.
Production is scheduled to start in London in spring 2013.
Michelle, who received her third Oscar nomination for her performance as Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn, will next be seen in Sam Raimi's Oz: The Great And Powerful.
