Mischa Barton has signed up to star as a young woman who disapproves of living the party lifestyle in indie drama Fast Life.
The OC star will play the love interest in the film written and directed by music video filmmaker Rock Jacobs, Variety reports.
Fast Life tells the story of an ad executive who falls in with an unsavoury fast money crowd, but starts to realise the flaws in their lifestyle when he is introduced to an unimpressed young woman, played by Mischa.
Rock has directed music videos for Vanessa Hudgens and Miranda Cosgrove, but Fast Life will be his feature film directorial debut.
Shooting is expected to start in Los Angeles this summer.
Mischa, 27, is still best known for playing rich girl Marissa Cooper in hit teen drama The OC, which ran from 2003 to 2006.
But as well as dabbling in producing and fashion design, she has had several film roles in recent years, including supernatural thrillers Into The Dark, which was showcased at Cannes last year, and A Resurrection, opposite the late Michael Clarke Duncan in one of his final roles.
