Mortimer to take a Spectral turn

Emily Mortimer is reportedly in talks to make her big-screen comeback in supernatural thriller Spectral.

The 42-year-old actress is in discussions to play the female lead in the action film alongside James Badge Dale, said The Hollywood Reporter.

The British star is tipped to portray a CIA mission leader, with James as a researcher in the film, which is described as a "supernatural version of Black Hawn Down". The story follows a Special Ops team that fights supernatural beings who have taken over a European city.

Nic Mathieu is to direct Spectral, which has been written by George Nolfi, John Gatins and Ian Fried.

It would be Emily's first film role in three years since Martin Scorsese's Hugo. She has been focusing on the small screen with roles in HBO drama The Newsroom and comedy series Doll And Em, which she also created and wrote with friend Dolly Wells.
