Mulroney in Steve Jobs indie film

Dermot Mulroney is being linked to one of the Steve Jobs biopics in development

Dermot Mulroney has joined the cast of one of the Steve Jobs biopics.

The My Best Friend's Wedding star will play Mike Markkula in the indie film featuring Ashton Kutcher as the Apple legend, Deadline reported

Mike, who was Apple's first backer, believed in Jobs, but was torn between him and his loyalty to the board.

Another film about Apple's co-founder is being written by Aaron Sorkin, the award-winning screenwriter of The Social Network. An actor has not yet been cast in the role for that film.

US actor Dermot recently appeared in the black comedy The Family Tree, Abduction with Taylor Lautner and Clint Eastwood's biopic J Edgar.

Jobs died, aged 56, from pancreatic cancer in October last year.
