Bill Murray has confessed that it is harder to play a good person than a bad guy.
The Ghostbusters star attended the gala screening of his new film Hyde Park On Hudson at the London Film Festival in Leicester Square, where he was joined on the red carpet by director Roger Michel and co-star Samuel West.
They arrived at the Empire cinema in a vintage 1936 Flathead Ford car.
Bill plays former US president Franklin D Roosevelt in the film, which tells the story of the love affair between Roosevelt and his distant cousin Margaret Stuckley, played by Laura Linney.
Bill said: "It's kinda easier to play nasty people 'cause it's so easy for us to fall into an ugly mode.
"But to be someone that aspires to be more, that means you have to really have that going on in you."
The 62-year-old actor compared tackling the role of the famous leader to politics.
He said: "Politics isn't necessarily just government, it's how you get along with people and how you understand what they need and want, and give it to them without losing sense of yourself, and see what you can do together to try to make it happen.
"So that's what I try to do at work on a movie, you try to see what we need to do and try to be just as political. It's a similar technique."
West plays King George VI in the film with Peep Show star Olivia Colman as his wife, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.
