New 1984 movie in the pipeline
George Orwell's classic novel 1984 is getting a new movie remake, according to reports.
The Hollywood Reporter said the book, which was published in 1949, has been picked up by Imagine Entertainment who want to release a new take on the work.
Hailed as a masterpiece, 1984 remains one of the most influential novels.
The story of Winston Smith and a totalitarian society made terms such as Big Brother and newsspeak part of everyday language.
The book has been adapted several times for film and television, most recently directed by Michael Radford and starring John Hurt, Richard Burton and Suzanna Hamilton.
The Hollywood Reporter said that the producers are currently seeking a writer for the project.
Meanwhile, Elton John has been reported to be working on a stage musical adaptation of Orwell's Animal Farm.
