New teams for Captain America 2

Scarlett Johansson will have a leading role in the Captain America sequel

Scarlett Johansson's superhero alter-ego Black Widow will have a leading role in the Captain America sequel, it has been revealed.

The Russian spy, also known as Natasha Romanoff, is set to join forces with Steve Rogers/Captain America (played by Chris Evans) in Joe and Anthony Russo's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which has begun filming in Los Angeles.

A statement posted on Collider said: "Captain America: The Winter Soldier will pick up where Marvel's Avengers Assemble left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, DC."

Samuel L Jackson will reprise his Marvel Comics role as SHIELD leader Nick Fury, while Robert Redford is to play Agent Alexander Pierce, a senior leader within the SHIELD organisation.

Hayley Atwell, Cobie Smulders, Toby Jones and Sebastian Stan will return to their Marvel roles, alongside newcomers Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo and Emily VanCamp in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which is scheduled for a release in April 2014.

Read the fine print on a contract. If you're not happy with the proposed terms of a deal, renegotiate. Don't be afraid to drive a hard bargain.
