Nicolas Cage is set to star in Black Butterfly

Nicolas Cage is in talks to star in psychological thriller Black Butterfly.

The Ghost Rider actor is tipped to play a writer who offers shelter to a drifter "with unforeseen consequences" in the big-screen remake of Papillon Noir, a French TV thriller with former footballer Eric Cantona, reported Screen Daily.

Directed by Brian Goodman, German actress Veronica Ferres is set to co-star in the film, which is scheduled to start shooting in Germany next year.

Nicolas, who is reprising his superhero role as motorbike-riding Johnny Blaze in the Ghost Rider sequel, Spirit Of Vengeance, has a few films in the pipeline, including drama Medallion with Malin Akerman and a voice role in computer-animated The Croods alongside Ryan Reynolds and Emma Stone.
