Emma Watson will not be slipping her feet into glass slippers as she has reportedly turned down a starring role in Cinderella.

The Harry Potter star had been tipped for the lead role in Disney's live-action adaptation of the classic fairytale, but has reportedly changed her mind, according to Variety.

Variety writer Marc Graser announced the news on his Twitter feed, writing: "Emma Watson has decided NOT to star in Disney's CINDERELLA. Details to come."

It is thought that Emma - who is up for best female performance at the MTV Movie Awards for Perks Of Being A Wallflower - could have chosen instead to star in Beauty And The Beast, which she was also linked to. The new version would be directed by Guillermo del Toro, and written by Trance screenwriter Joe Ahearne.

Saoirse Ronan, Gabriella Wilde and Alicia Vikander are among the actresses being considered for Cinderella.

Cate Blanchett is attached to play the evil stepmother, while Kenneth Branagh will direct the remake, which is expected to start shooting in London in the autumn for a 2014 release.

Beware of spending beyond your means. Sticking to a budget will help you survive the festive season relatively unscathed. It will be easier than you think to let your grip on the purse strings slip especially as the big day draws near. Let Christmas be about loving, sharing and giving. Spend quality time preparing food, making decorations and playing games together. If you haven't sent all your cards or round robin emails give some thought about what you will be sharing with others this year.More
