Nut Job movie sequel announced

Film bosses have announced a sequel to The Nut Job just days after the first film was released.

The follow-up to the animated comedy - which features the voices of Katherine Heigl, Will Arnett, Brendan Fraser, Liam Neeson and Maya Rudolph - will open in cinemas on January 15, 2016, according to reports.

While plot and cast details haven't been announced, it is thought many of the actors will reprise their roles.

The first film follows a squirrel who plots to rob a nut shop so he and his friends can stock up for the winter.

It was released earlier in January and took the US box office by storm, taking more than 25 million dollars (£15 million) in its first weekend.

The Nut Job has yet to open in the UK.
