O'Dowd: I can't sing in musical

Chris O'Dowd didn't have to sing well for his musical film

Chris O'Dowd has confessed he can't sing, despite starring in a new musical.

Th IT Crowd star filmed The Sapphires in Australia earlier this year, about a man who discovers four talented Aboriginal sisters and turns them into a singing group to tour Vietnam war bases in 1968.

Chris revealed: "It's a lot of fun. I do a lot of piano playing and a little bit of singing."

He confessed: "I'm a pretty terrible singer but it didn't matter so much. I play more of the manager and piano player, and what I sing, is not supposed to be good, which has worked out great."

The Bridesmaids star revealed he had a great time shooting the movie out on location in the Australian bush.

Chris said: "I was in Australia for two months shooting and then a couple of weeks in Saigon and I really had a lovely time. Because a lot of it is set in the bush, we got to get out of the cities.

"It was just me and a bunch of Aboriginal people, the director and writer and the rest of the cast. It was a world I didn't know that much about, but man, it was so fun!"
