O'Dowd to star in St Vincent film?

Chris O'Dowd is being lined up for a role in St Vincent De Van Nuys, according to reports

Chris O'Dowd is in "early talks" to appear in comedy drama St Vincent De Van Nuys, according to reports.

The Sapphires star could be reuniting with his Bridesmaids co-star Melissa McCarthy in the film, which will be directed and has been written by Ted Melfi, reported Deadline.

Bill has already signed on to star as a cantankerous war veteran with a penchant for drinking, gambling and prostitutes, who forms an unlikely friendship with a teenage boy, whose parents are going through a divorce.

Melissa - who stars in Identity Thief opposite Jason Bateman - is expected to win the role of the boy's mother, with Chris tipped to play a priest.

Filming on St Vincent De Van Nuys is expected to begin in July.

The Irish funnyman, who has appeared in hit TV series Girls and Judd Apatow's This Is 40, will next be seen in dance comedy Cuban Fury opposite Nick Frost, and has filmed a cameo in the Thor sequel, Thor: The Dark World.

He will also star in new US sitcom Family Tree with This Is Spinal Tap's Christopher Guest.
