Okonedo to star in Haunted Child

Sophie Okonedo is set to tread the boards again

Sophie Okonedo has been lured back to the stage by a new haunting psychological drama, penned specially for her.

The Oscar nominee is set to star with Ben Daniels in Joe Penhall's new play Haunted Child, which will be directed by Jeremy Herrin when it opens at the Royal Court in December.

"Sophie's not shabby: I've finally written something that's good enough for her!" the writer told the Daily Mail.

The spooky drama is about a small boy and his mum, and the young child is haunted by his father's disappearance.

"The mother's not sure if he is dead. We do know the father has had some sort of psychotic episode and a cult might be involved. It will give a few shivers," Joe teased.
