Gary Oldman and Helena Bonham Carter have reportedly been offered the leading roles in the live action version of Akira.
House Of Wax's Jaume Collet-Serra is on board to direct the remake of the Japanese animated sci fi film, about a young boy called Akira who developed special powers while part of a govenrment experiment, only to lose control of his power, destroying Tokyo in a horrifying explosion.
According to Twitchfilm.com Gary has been offered the role of The Colonel, head of the government organisation who began the tests on Akira and Helena Bonham-Carter has been invited to play Lady Miyako.
It was reported last week that Tron: Legacy star Garret Hedlund is in talks to play gang leader Kaneda who wants to try and free Akira.
