Oldman cops a role in Child 44

Gary Oldman has been linked to a role in thriller Child 44

Gary Oldman is in talks to star in thriller Child 44.

The 55-year-old British actor is said to be considering reuniting with his Dark Knight Rises co-star Tom Hardy in Daniel Espinosa's big-screen adaptation of Tom Rob Smith's novel, reported Heat Vision blog.

Written by Richard Price and produced by Ridley Scott, the film focuses on a 1950s Soviet military policeman (played by Tom), who becomes the target of his own government's suspicions as he investigates a series of murders.

Gary is rumoured to play the head of the police force, who acts on orders and begins to track Tom's character.

Noomi Rapace is also on board as Tom's screen wife, while Joel Kinnaman plays his ambitious but violent work colleague.

Gary, who has starred in Lawless, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and the final Harry Potter film in recent years, has been shooting the RoboCop remake with Joel.

He is also attached to the Planet Of The Apes sequel, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes.
