Olivia Newton-John dazzled on the red carpet as her new movie opened the Toronto International Film Festival.

Wearing a silver Vera Wang dress, the Grease star said she signed up to star in Score: A Hockey Musical "cause it was fun".

The 61-year-old year old plays a folk-singing mum to a teenage hockey sensation, played by Noah Reid.

Noah was full of praise for the Aussie singer.

"[She has] such a beautiful personality, really funny, and she's warm and generous as far as pictures and autographs," the young actor explained.

He revealed how Olivia was always willing to chat to fans.

"She said to me 'you have to remember it's the first time for people so you want it to be a pleasant experience for them'. It was pretty great to work with her," he said.
