Oscar nominated music gig announced

The Oscar-nominated music from films including Gravity and Saving Mr Banks are to be performed live in a special concert ahead of the awards.

The film academy has announced it will present a live Oscar Concert in the days leading up to the Academy Awards that celebrates the year's nominated music.

The February 27 concert at UCLA's Royce Hall will feature all five original scores performed by an 80-piece orchestra conducted by each nominated composer.

As well as music from The Book Thief, Philomena and Her, the program will include performances of the four original songs up for Oscars this year at the March 2 ceremony.

Jill Scott is set to sing Happy from Despicable Me 2 and songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez will perform their song, Let it Go from Frozen.

Other performers will be announced soon.
