Ellen Page film The East will close the SXSW festival

Ellen Page's new film The East is to close the South By Southwest Film Festival in Texas.

The thriller, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, has been named as the closing night movie on March 16.

Ellen's character is one of the The East, alongside Toby Kebbell, Shiloh Fernandez and Patricia Clarkson.

Jim Carrey's latest movie The Incredible Burt Wonderstone will open the festival on March 8.

Now in its 20th year, the festival will also be showing Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers, the Napster documentary Downloaded, Joe Swanberg's comedy Drinking Buddies, Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead, Beatles' documentary Good Ol' Freda and UK film Everyone's Going To Die.
