Woody Allen has cast Parker Posey and Jamie Blackley in his new film.

The pair join Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone in the as-yet-untitled movie, which is shooting in Rhode Island in the US.

The 78-year-old filmmaker is expected to write, produce and direct, as he has with so many of his other projects.

Little is known about the storyline for the upcoming film, which would mark Woody's 47th time as director. It comes after the release of Magic In The Moonlight, which stars Colin Firth and Emma.

Parker, 45, is best known for her roles in Superman Returns, Scream 3 and Broken English, while Isle of Man-born actor Jamie has appeared in Snow White And The Huntsman, London Boulevard and Julian Assange film, The Fifth Estate.

The up-and-coming 23-year-old will next star in coming-of-age movie Kids In Love alongside Cara Delevingne and drama If I Stay with Chloe Grace Moretz.
