Sean Penn is going to be awarded with a top gong for his humanitarian work.
The two-time Oscar winner will be honoured for his philanthropic efforts in the earthquake-ravaged country of Haiti and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.
He will receive the Hollywood Humanitarian Award at the Hollywood Film Festival's gala ceremony on October 25.
The Milk star founded the J/P Haitian Relief Organisation, which helps with medical aid and re-location, in January.
"It is an honour to recognise the inspiring humanitarian efforts that Sean Penn and his J/P Haitian Relief Organisation have been providing to the great people of Haiti," said Festival founder and executive director Carlos de Abreu.
Sean's efforts have already recognised by the US Army and by the Ambassador of the Republic of Haiti.
He was also knighted by Haitian President Rene Preval in a ceremony in Port-Au-Prince in July.
