Percy Jackson goes back to roots

Percy Jackson star Alexandra Daddario has said she changed her character's look for the sequel to please fans.

At the Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters premiere Alexandra explained what had prompted the change in hair colour from her natural brunette to blonde.

The actress, who plays Annabeth Chase, said: "I dyed my hair blonde for this one because the fans had an outcry after the first movie. We stayed close to the book in this one."

The Percy Jackson film is based on Rick Riordan's books about the adventures of the troubled son of Poseidon and stars Logan Lerman as the title character.

Director Thor Freudenthal said he had picked up with the new movie where Chris Columbus left off with Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief.

He said: "I had to be technically very aware of what I was filming all the time because the challenge is making visual effects look like an organic part of the story telling."

Alexandra, Logan and Thor were joined at the premiere after party by Stanley Tucci who plays Dionysus and guests Richard Gere and Matthew Broderick.

Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters is released in cinemas on August 7.
