Joe Pesci has sued the producer of a biopic on the Gotti crime family for more than three million dollars, claiming they used his name to promote the movie but then rescinded an offer for a starring role.
Pesci's lawsuit against Fiore Films seeks the millions he claims he was offered to play the role of a childhood friend and enforcer of mob boss John Gotti Sr.
The actor, who cites his starring roles in other mob films such as Goodfellas and Casino, claims the filmmakers traded on his name but later offered him a reduced role and smaller salary.
Pesci's suit states he gained 30lbs to play the role of mob enforcer Angelo Ruggiero.
Fiore Films spokesman Steve Honig did not immediately return an email seeking comment.
