Rosamund Pike will start opposite David Tennant in a new film

Rosamund Pike and David Tennant are to play a bickering couple in new comedy What We Did On Our Holiday.

The former Bond girl and the ex Doctor Who are to shoot the film directed by Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin, the team behind hit TV series Outnumbered, on location in Soctland in June and July.

The film is about a couple experiencing marital strife as they travel from their home "down South" to visit relatives in Scotland, the Daily Mail reported.

Billy Connolly is also attached to star in the BBC film.

Rosamund Pike will next appear in Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright's latest film The World's End, due out this summer.

David Tennant has been filming the Doctor Who 50th anniversary reunion special, which will air later this year.
