Pinkett Smith gets Magic Mike role

Jada Pinkett Smith has revealed she has a role in Magic Mike XXL that was written for a man.

The Collateral actress appeared on The Queen Latifah Show, where she spoke about being cast in the sequel to Channing Tatum-starring stripper movie Magic Mike.

She said: "Channing and Gregory (Jacobs, director) and Warner Bros really took a chance. It was a character that was written for a male that they wanted to turn into a female."

When Queen Latifah asked whether she would be playing another stripper, Jada laughed: " No, not one of those. I can't really reveal it yet, but I'm excited about it, it's been a lot of fun."

The host, showing a still from the last film, quipped: "How come you're not excited to be around that beefcake?"

Jada, who is married to Will Smith, shot back: "I'm used to being around all that beefcake because you know who I live with."

Magic Mike XXL is due to be released in cinemas on August 7, 2015.
