Freida Pinto has insisted working in Hollywood has not made her forget her Indian roots, in fact she "craves" home.
The Slumdog Millionaire star turned out to support the opening night of the Indian Film Festival Of Los Angeles, and championed the films from her home country, which she returns to all the time.
Freida said: "It's so funny - when I went back to Bombay recently an Indian asked me 'How so you find Bombay?' and I was like, 'What do you mean?! I AM from Bombay!' It is my home.
"People forget that just because you are travelling everywhere and - it's not like I have a base in LA or London - but just because I travel outside of India a lot they feel, 'Oh maybe she's not from India, or maybe she's lost touch with her Indian roots.' But that's so not true. I think you crave for it more."
The 28-year-old actress - who is in a relationship with her Slumdog Millionaire co-star Dev Patel - said it was encouraging to see Indian films being showcased at the festival in LA.
Also there to celebrate the festival's opening night were Bollywood superstar Pooja Batra and Monday Mornings actress Sarayu Rao.
