Pitt takes tank driving lessons?

Brad Pitt is reportedly learning how to drive a tank for his new film Fury.

The 49-year-old actor is said to be mastering the mechanisms of the military machine for his role as an American soldier in David Ayer's World War Two drama.

Producers have organised tank training for Brad and some of the other cast members, with lessons taking place in Wiltshire and Germany, so that the battle scenes will be as realistic as possible on screen, reported The Sun.

A source told the newspaper: "These boot camps will involve hardcore physical exercise as well as advanced tank driving."

Steven Spielberg did something similar when he shot his epic military movie Saving Private Ryan, starring Tom Hanks and Matt Damon.

Brad - who is engaged to Angelina Jolie - plays a Sherman tank commander of a five-man crew of an American tank called Fury in the film, with Shia LaBeouf as one of his crew members. The group find themselves behind enemy lines in Nazi Germany in April 1945, as the war is coming to an end.

Shooting is set to start in September, in time for a release date in winter 2014.
