Rafe Spall in maths genius film

Rafe Spall has been talking about his screen and stage plans

Rafe Spall has signed up to star in X + Y, about an autistic maths genius.

The star revealed he'd be appearing in the film, about a genius who goes to the maths Olympiad, while also announcing he'd be treading the boards on Broadway.

Rafe was previously reported to be in talks to play the tutor of the genius in the drama, due to shoot in the UK this summer with Asa Butterfield.

Now he's said of his future plans: "I'm going to be doing a film called X + Y about an autistic maths genius who goes to the maths Olympiad."

The I Give It A Year star also announced that he'd be appearing in a play on Broadway but he refused to give any details, saying: "I don't know what I'm allowed to say about it!"

Last month he said in an interview that he was trying to transfer the West End play Constellations, with Sally Hawkins, to New York but that there were logistical issues.

Prometheus star Rafe is also set to star in Britpop film Kill Your Friends.

Asked if there would be any cameos from Britpop stars, he joked: "Not that I know of so far. They're all too old to play themselves now."

Asked if he fancied doing another romance following I Give It A Year, he joked: "I don't think I'm ever going to employed in one again," before adding: "I would love to do one. There's been a few coming my way."
