Raimi to direct Army Of Darkness 2

Sam Raimi will direct Army Of Darkness 2

Sam Raimi is to direct Army Of Darkness 2, it has been confirmed.

The Oz The Great And Powerful filmmaker will take the reins for the fourth Evil Dead film, the sequel to 1992's Army Of Darkness, which he will also co-write.

Fede Alvarez, the director of this year's Evil Dead remake, dropped the news about Sam's involvement with the next instalment of the cult horror comedy on Twitter, when he wrote in reply to a fan.

"Hey @fedalvar will you be directing the Army Of Darkness 2 movie? Sam Raimi will!" he said.

Bruce Campbell confirmed that he would star as an older Ash at the Wizard World Nashville Comic Con on October 18.

The actor, who starred in the original three films and featured in a brief cameo at the end of the remake, also said: "The last one was 22 years ago. I just haven't been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little bit busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I used to be busy. Now I'm not."

Sam, who had writing duties for the previous Evil Dead films, has directed the Spider-Man trilogy, starring Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, and horror thriller Drag Me To Hell, starring Justin Long and Alison Lohman.
