Rappers can do drama, says 50 Cent

Curtis Jackson thinks there's no reason rappers can't act

Rapper-turned-filmmaker 50 Cent has insisted he doesn't take it to heart when people assume he can't act.

The In Da Club star wrote, produced and stars in new movie Things Fall Apart, playing an American football player who is diagnosed with cancer.

And the rapper - real name Curtis Jackson - told the Independent: "When you make it in one portion of art, people doubt you in others. I don't take it personally."

He went on: "I think it's a reflection of how they feel about themselves. They doubt themselves in different areas and they just reflect that off on you.

"When I'm passionate about something I pretty much get to it. People say, 'He's a rapper, he can't act'. I guess they forgot about Will Smith, right?

"And they forgot about Mark Wahlberg, and they forgot about Queen Latifah. They forgot about a lot of people."

Curtis shed 60lb for Things Fall Apart, a film the star describes as his "passion project".

"That helped me to have the discipline to have the physical transformation," he added.

:: Things Fall Apart is due for release later this year.

This isn't a good time to make travel plans. Weather conditions and work responsibilities have a way of wreaking havoc with your schedule. Wait another few days before putting down a hefty deposit. Working behind the scenes will yield significant rewards. If someone asks you to serve as their assistant, go ahead and accept. The pay will be excellent and there will be a lot of fringe benefits, too. Don't talk about a neighbour's private life in mixed company.More
