Ray Winstone has his eye on the role of James Bond.
The 53-year-old British hardman, who has shown his tough side in a string of gangster films including Martin Scorsese's The Departed and Sexy Beast, revealed he can't wait for 007 to return to the big screen - and he's willing to play the part himself.
Ray told Christian O'Connell's Absolute Radio Breakfast Show: "I think Bond will be back soon. I'd make a great Bond, wouldn't I? You know, he's a Londoner, he's a killer and a lover! I'm a killer lover!"
But despite wearing skimpy trunks in Sexy Beast, Ray is worried age may have left him without the figure to play the hunky lothario spy.
He added: "Mind you Daniel's alright in the Speedos, he's got the eight-pack hasn't he? I've got the barrel."
Despite having worked with Scorsese, Ray revealed his favourite gangster film is John Mackenzie's The Long Good Friday, which starred Bob Hoskins and Helen Mirren.
He said: "I'm British you know! It's something I understand, something we understand. It's British and has a British feel to it. I've seen all the American ones too but I love British Gangster films. I have to put Sexy Beast up there too."
