Game Of Thrones has set a new record, winning 12 prizes at the 67th Emmy Awards.

The hit fantasy show filmed in Northern Ireland won eight awards at last week's Creative Emmy Awards, and then went on to scoop a further four at the star-studded ceremony at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.

Actor Peter Dinklage won outstanding supporting actor in a drama series and the show also picked up the prestigious outstanding drama series award.

Dinklage embraced co-star Lena Headey and told the packed crowd: "I was chewing gum, I wasn't prepared because the other actors in my category awe me with their performances."

The show also won outstanding directing for a drama series (David Nutter for the episode Mother's Mercy) and outstanding writing for a drama series (David Benioff and DB Weiss).

It was an otherwise disappointing night for British TV talent, as shows like Downton Abbey failed to pick up any gongs at the ceremony.

One of those who lost out was Cat Deeley, the pregnant wife of Co Down comedian Patrick Kielty.

Cat, who wore a Monique Lhuillier gown with a plunging neckline that showed off her baby bump, had been nominated in the outstanding host for a Reality TV show category for So You Think You Can Dance.

In the end she was beaten by Jane Lynch of Hollywood Game Night - but it didn't stop her enjoying her big night.

She told E! entertainment TV station that she managed to squeeze into her gown but "had to let out the back a little bit" to accommodate her bump.

Stunning Cat told People last week that she wouldn't be letting pregnancy get in the way of her favourite designer outfits.

"The first week after I announced it, I was like, 'I am wearing my highest Christian Louboutins this week. I am not going to get mumsy," she said.
