Redmayne: I hope Les Mis is great

Eddie Redmayne is hoping his singing will be up to scratch for Les Mis

Eddie Redmayne wants to make sure the new Les Miserables film does justice to the original musical.

The actor will play Marius in Tom Hooper's big screen version of the classic show, which also stars Amanda Seyfried, Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman.

"I love the musical and I think it's an amazing group of people Tom's put together and it's been a long time coming, I just hope I can do it justice," Eddie said.

"I worked with Tom several years ago on a film about Elizabeth I with Helen Mirren and I love him. I thought The King's Speech was wonderful."

Eddie's character is the boyfriend of leading lady Cossette, played by Mamma Mia! star Amanda.

"We had a screen test together. I know Amanda well, she's a lovely girl," Eddie said.

The My Week With Marilyn star admitted the prospect of singing on the big screen was nerve-wracking.

"I sang a lot when I was a kid. I haven't sung properly for a while so I'm trying to get it back into nick, but fortunately I have a great singing teacher called Mark and he's putting me through my paces so we'll have to see," he added.
