Reilly joins Farrell in The Lobster

John C Reilly has landed a role in futuristic love story The Lobster.

The Step Brothers actor has officially been cast in the film, which will be the English-language debut from Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos.

Ashley Jensen, Michael Smiley and Jessica Barden have also joined the movie, which will be shot on location in Ireland over seven weeks. Principal photography is already under way.

The newcomers join previously announced cast members Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz, Ben Whishaw, Lea Seydoux and Olivia Colman.

The Lobster is a love story set in the near future where single people are arrested and transferred to what is known as The Hotel. There they are obliged to find a matching mate in 45 days, and if they fail they are turned into an animal of their choice and released into The Woods.

Dogtooth filmmaker Lanthimos also co-wrote the story.
