Ivan Reitman is to be given the Lifetime Achievement Award at CinemaCon

Ivan Reitman is to be given the Lifetime Achievement Award at CinemaCon.

The Ghostbusters director will be honoured for his movie work at the convention in Las Vegas later this month.

Mitch Neuhauser, managing director of CinemaCon, said: "A creative force behind some of the most successful and memorable comedies of our time, Ivan Reitman has entertained audiences around the world with his unforgettable work on film.

"As a director and producer, Ivan Reitman has given the world such classics as Animal House, Stripes, Ghostbusters, Dave, Private Parts, I Love You Man and Up In The Air.

"A master of comedy for all ages, CinemaCon is simply thrilled to be honouring this cinematic legend with its 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award."

Kevin Costner, who Ivan directed in his latest film Draft Day, will also receive a gong at the event.

He will be presented with the 2014 Cinema Icon Award.

CinemaCon will be held from March 24-27 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
